The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we're entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we've distributed over $2 million to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
Quite a few similar tunes from 2016 for sure. I think most notable was probably the first time ‘2001’ was played during a 1st set since 10/18/16. It definitely seems as though venues have a way of inspiring Phish(Trey) to play certain songs, for one reason or another.
Another example that will always stick out to me are my first two shows, 11/12/95 and 11/3/96. Both were ‘bookended’ MFMF/Fire. Other crossovers included Tweezer, Reprise, Possum, Bouncin, and Sample. Possum for obvious reason. Aside from that, maybe Fire was referring to the quality of ‘things’ in G’ville and along the I-75 corridor. Who the hell knows? I was a little young at the time.
